Should You Use Freight Forwarder When Selling through Amazon FBA?

The fulfillment program by Amazon started only a few years ago and it has changed the way people sell goods on the internet. Amazon was already a major player in the e-commerce, with their Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program, they are now even bigger.

Anyone can utilize Amazon’s excellent shipping program through their fulfillment program. Whether you’re selling things on various marketplaces outside or Amazon, or directly through Amazon, the shipping is handled by the e-commerce giant when you sign up on the FBA.

The FBA by Amazon is excellent for aspiring businessmen. So far, the program has allowed many businessmen to quickly grow their businesses and take it to the next level. However, one should be aware that there are certain rules and regulations as well as some fee involved when you sign up for Amazon FBA.

After you have read through and understood the Amazon FBA seller fees, and you are ready to start your business through the program, then you should move to the next step which is finding the right freight forwarder company.

When on the Amazon FBA program, a freight forwarder plays a key role in helping you build a consistent stream of income. Even with FBA, you’ll still need to get your products to a designated Amazon fulfillment center before you can start making sales.

When you sign up with Amazon FBA, they assign you a fulfillment center which is basically a warehouse managed by the company. This is where your products are stored until they are sold by you or Amazon directly.

Once a product is sold, Amazon picks the product from this fulfillment center and sends it to the customer on your behalf. But in order for this to work, your product must first be sent to the fulfillment center by an Amazon freight forwarder.

This is true especially for products that are being imported from another country such as China. If you are directly importing a product from China, then try and find an Amazon freight forwarder based in the country.

But be careful when dealing with Amazon freight forwarders. Not every company has what it takes to become your partner, especially when it comes to selling through Amazon FBA.

The e-commerce giant has set up specific rules and regulations for shipping, packaging, and labeling. Thus, a freight forwarder should have extensive experience with Amazon FBA shipping otherwise your products may not be accepted at fulfillment centers and your Amazon FBA might be canceled.

You’ll find most freight forwarders through Google, so make sure that before you sign a deal with an FBA freight forwarder, you have all the necessary questions and queries lined up. A company must meet all of your requirements before you can finalize a deal with them.

It is often a good idea to hold a telephonic interview and ask them all about their Amazon FBA experiences. If they manage to satisfy your questions with suitable answers, only then sign a deal with them.
