What to Look for from a Realtor in Florida

Right now, the real estate market is hot.  Sure, it may be cooling down compared to the absolute insanity that it was last year (in the summer especially), but that certainly does not mean that we should not be keeping an eye on it.  Perhaps the trickiest part of it is finding a real estate agent that we can trust!

Today, that is what I will be discussing with you.  I think that it is important to understand what separates a great agent from a good or “okay” one.  So, if you are looking to purchase or sell a home any time soon, this may be a valuable resource for you.  You may also want to look at a page like this, https://theweek.com/finance/1020033/2023-housing-market-what-will-the-next-year-bring, to get some background information.

Real Estate in Florida

As some readers are probably already well aware of, the housing market is almost always booming in Florida.  Perhaps it is the sunny weather, the warmth, or the great tourism industry, but something about it drives people in droves.  So, finding realtors should be a breeze, right?

Well…this is true to some extent, but as I briefly hinted at earlier, finding the good eggs amongst them can be a real challenge.  While it is definitely an awesome thing that the market is doing so well in the state, it is a factor in the fact that some real estate agents are not in it for the right reasons.  A lot of them are just out to make a quick buck.

Obviously, that is probably not the sort of service that most of us are looking for when we want to enter the market on either side of the equation.  Do not worry, though – there are plenty of them that are good-natured and can really help you out.  For anyone looking for a Florida realtor, I will be going over some of the positive attributes to be on the watch for!

Best Qualities

For my own ventures, what I prioritize above anything else is personality.  At the end of the day, if I do not get along with the person that I want to sell my property (or who is helping me find a new place to live), it will probably not work out.  So, a friendly disposition and willingness to help are always going to be two attributes that I rank highly on my list of what to look for.

Now, I am sure that not everyone will feel the same, so feel free to disregard the above.  Some other qualities that I like to see are of course professionalism and a general knowledge of the neighborhoods involved.  As you can read about here, local familiarity is a huge component at play when it comes to successful real estate ventures.

After all, it is difficult to enter a market in which you do not know much about the prices and the standards for a listing.  Agents are intended to be able to assist you on that front, especially if you are moving to Florida from out of state.  That is hardly an uncommon occurrence.

Finally, you should probably make sure that they are licensed and know what they are doing.  As I mentioned, there are a lot of predatory people out there just trying to make some quick cash.  They may even attempt to lie about their certifications and licensing.  It never hurts to do a quick google search of the agent that you are considering, or to check out some of the other customer reviews that they have.  Better safe than sorry, right?

In general, I know that it can be intimidating, and even frightening to some extent, to take steps to list your home on the housing market.  While this is the case, I would encourage you to go ahead and take that leap of faith.  Once you find a realtor that you have real rapport with and feel comfortable working with, things should go quite smoothly.

Trust in the fact that the market is good right now.  There is probably not going to be a better opportunity for you to sell or buy in a long time.
